Communication Preferences


We wish to stay in touch with you in order to provide benefits and services that will aid in your professional and personal lives, to keep you connected to the university and to each other.  We do this by providing regular communications, social media updates and events. We provide activities, benefits and services such as reunions, mentoring and networking opportunities, use of library, careers and sports resources. 


The University of Cumbria Alumni Association considers its relationship with alumni to be lifelong, and therefore we will carry on communicating with you unless you tell us you no longer wish to hear from us.  You are in control of how we communicate to you, and what we communicate to you about. 


Communication channels

We may communicate with you through a variety of different channels, these are:

  • Email (this is the channel we use most often)
  • Mail
  • Phone
  • SMS (text message)

Communication categories

In our emails we may communicate with you for a variety of different purposes, these email communications fall under the following categories:

  • Aluminate Graduate Newsletter. Currently sent three times per year, this newsletter includes university news, updates on fellow alumni, some general marketing messages, details of events and opportunities, alumni benefits and services and can also include fundraising information and opportunities.
  • Giving back opportunities. These could include asking you to submit a case study, asking you to talk about your experiences at an open day or event, or providing you with details of our mentoring schemes. These types of messages will not include fundraising.
  • Reunions, events and staying in touch with friends. These communications include details of class reunions, requests from friends to get back in touch or details of specific university social events.
  • Employability and CPD. These include notices of jobs, short courses, conferences or further study opportunities relevant to your subject of study. We may also let you know about employability fairs and events and ways to progress your career.
  • Alumni Association benefits and services. These emails include details of benefits and services that will aid your professional and personal lives.
  • General marketing. These emails will keep you up to date with new courses and opportunities at the university.
  • Fundraising. These emails will update you on opportunities to support our charitable activities and funds.

You can choose how you would like to stay in touch with us and tyhe type of communications you wish to receive by updating your preferences below. Simply click opt in or out to the different channels and email categories. You can return to update this at any time.

Please note: You will continue to receive all types of communications through all channels unless you opt out.
